Part of the Calgary Space Workers agenda is to demonstrate the subsistence and human interaction needs of animals in a lunar habitat. Lynn Gustafson owner of a beautifully run zoo just North of Calgary will provide some animals that would be expected to be in space. Human interaction with animals in space is also therapeutic and therefore some animals you see may not be subsistence related. It is important to realize that it is easier to take a dozen eggs to space have them hatch and then have them lay eggs and so on to produce both the chicken and the eggs for subsistence purposes. This is called "bootstrapping" and is like using computers in the manufacturing of more advanced computers.
Although the discussion of cloning a food supply was entertained it was decided that it was not a feasible or a morally acceptable concept and has been ruled out. This however did not rule out a cell bank of all species of the earth in the event of an earth wide disaster. This would serve scientists with the opportunity to repopulate the earth’s animals, plants etc. The subsistence discussion with regards to cloning may be revisited in this case as a means of survival.
Humans are more relaxed and enjoy the company of animals as the animals are not as subseptable to the stresses of a humans normal daily activities. Animals are also friends and like the animals of Mr Gustafson they are family.
Guzoo's Zoo is well run, clean and a great zoo for family entertainment. Mr. Gustafson and the Calgary Space Workers can hardly wait to blast off into space with the animals of Guzoo's Zoo.
