There was a great time had by all at the Canadian Space Summit 2007 which was sponsored by the Calgary Space Workers Society (CSW), Calgary Space Frontiers Society (CSFS) and the Students for Exploration and Development of Space in Canada (SEDS Canada). Canadian Space Summit 2007 The Calgary Space Workers Society needs your help; we need members to volunteer to assist with audio visual, registration, coat check, assisting speakers and co-ordination of various tasks. In return the Calgary Space Workers Society will pay a portion of your registration. For your registration through the Calgary Space Workers Society Volunteers Registration $20.00 Non-Volunteer CSW Registration $35.00 No affiliation to the Calgary Space Workers Society the cost is $45.00 On November 17- 18, 2007. The Canadian Space Summit will be held at the University of Calgary and will have a fascinating lineup of speakers including experts from a range of space research subjects.
Registration is now available during our meetings, online at http://www.css.ca/summit2007/registration.php or by contacting us by phone at (403) 259-6809. Do Not Pay on the website for the discount mentioned above. Volunteers can pay at our meetings but with prior notice at the CSW booth at the summit. Please don't forget your CSW cap with the logo. This will be a great opportunity to become involved in the future of space. Dr. Pat Côté Senior Research Officer at the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics Dr. Gordon Osinski Professor of Planetary Geology and is involved in planetary analogue research on Devon Island Dr. Alan Hildebrand Professor of Planetary Geology and is leading a search for potentially hazardous Near Earth Objects with NEOSSAT to be launched in 2009. Dr. David Knudsen Director of U of C’s Institute for Space Research and his own research explores the fascinating Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights. Bob Richards Director of the Space Division at Optech Inc. the developers of the advanced laser radar (lidar) for space exploration. Bob also founded SEDS-Canada. Melissa Battler President of Mars Society Canada and a planetary geologist, she was also the commander of the recent FMARS 2007 long duration Mars simulation mission on Devon Island Paul Graham Engineering Team coordinator and Chief Engineer for the MDRS & FMARS projects. Terry Wilson Founder of the After Columbia Project and developer of the Mars Challenger II mission concept Michael Bakk, Captain and founder of the Calgary Space Workers Society speaking on the initiation of an Analog Lunar Research Station and Habitat in the Calgary area. The banquet component will be the 2007 Summit Optech Banquet. The Saturday evening event will consist of a delicious buffet meal followed by a talk by Bob Richards entitled “The New Race to the Moon” in which he will discuss the new $30 million Google Lunar X PRIZE.
